Recipes from Asian Food and Cookery

June 2006

In many parts of the world, the weather's getting pretty warm now, too warm to be using the oven or hanging around in the kitchen for long. On the other hand, are you bored with salads? I know I am, so I've looked out some Indian vegetable dishes which are quick and easy to make and go really well with any sort of grilled or barbequed meat. Come to that, they're lovely on their own, so why not give them a try at Asian Food and Cookery?

Spiced Basmati Rice from Madhur Jaffrey's Indian Cookery

This recipe is from Madhur Jaffrey's Indian Cookery and is a delicious and foolproof way of cooking rice.

Spicy Potato and Peas by Liz Canham

This combination can be served with any grilled meat or vegetarian dish to give it that spicy oomph.

A Pair of Mushroom Curries by Liz Canham

These curries can be served hot or cold with any meat or vegetable or just with chapattis, naan bread or pita bread. They go particularly well with a dal dish.
